2008 KENTUCKY FARM BUREAU BEEF EXPO BULL DISPLAY AREA

The 2008 Expo dates are February 28th – March 2nd. There are currently 12 breeds of cattle that have shows and sales during this event. Annually, the Kentucky Beef Expo has an attendance of 20,000 potential buyers, with attendance numbers projected to increase in future Expos.

This will be the 7th year for the promotional bull display aisle at the Beef Expo.  The display area will be placed near the Junior Steer and Female exhibitors show location. This is on the main aisle and attracts a high volume of traffic.   Each display will consist of a 9 x 9 tie area.  Two yards of bedding will be provided per entry with boards in the front to prevent the loss of bedding.  Each exhibitor is responsible for furnishing their own end panels.  The display cost is $250 per head.  If an exhibitor displays three (3) head, the fourth one is free.  Only one exhibitor, farm, or company, etc. is allowed per space.  No space shall be sublet or used by another exhibitor.  Co-owners of animals are considered as one company in displays.

The display area is part of the Kentucky Farm Bureau Beef Expo, not the Expo Trade Show.  The following Expo guidelines are set to insure the safety of exhibitors, animals, and potential buyers:

¨       All bulls must have nose rings.

¨       All display entries must be halter broken.

¨       Absolutely no private sales are permitted.  Exception being semen or embryos of display animals.

¨       No generators are allowed.

¨       Blocking chutes are not permitted in display areas.

¨       For safety reasons, only one bull at a time will be permitted to walk an aisle during display hours.

¨       Display hours are 9 a.m. - 6 p.m., Thursday thru Saturday.  Sunday display hours are from 8 a.m. until the completion of the Junior Heifer Show.

¨       Display exhibitors are not required to stay for the duration of the Beef Expo; however, should an exhibitor wish to stay on Sunday, display animals cannot leave UNTIL the completion of the Junior Heifer and Steer Shows.

HEALTH REQUIREMENTS:

All animals must be identified on a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection.  Consignors need to call the Kentucky State Veterinarian’s Office at 502-564-3956 for current health requirements to enter Kentucky.
